FAMAS

The FAMAS, from the French "Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne" (assault rifle from the Saint-Étienne weapons factory), whose official name is "F1 MAS model 5.56 mm assault rifle", is a standard assault rifle and the service rifle of the French armed forces.
In production since 1979, the FAMAS assault rifle adopts a bullpup design (in which the action is located behind the trigger group to create a shorter weapon) which uses the more effective principle of inertial amplification in preference to gas operation. It is a powerful tactical weapon, of reduced size, which is also easy to use and maintain.
